As consumers become more reliant on smartphones to find out the best discounts and promotions in stores and online, Poundland has launched a new app to keep customers up to date on its low cost deals.
The discount retailer’s new app offers the latest information on Poundland‘s “Wow|” deals – leading brand offers, Buy One Get One Free (BOGOF) deals, multibuys and seasonal offers e.g. Diamond Jubilee, 2012 Olympics. Shoppers can also use the street view option to locate stores. The move is sure to detract attention away from the leading retailers’ apps.
Household budgets continue to be squeezed and more and more people are now taking the time to shop around to ensure they save money, said Jim McCarthy, Poundland CEO. He explained that the retailer wanted to provide customers with an app “to make it easy for them to see what bargains they can find in store”, as well as attracting new customers into stores. Customers will welcome the tool, said McCarthy, adding that the company hoped it would help families to save even more each week on household essentials and affordable treats.
Poundland recently appointed former Morrisons marketing director Richard Lancaster to the position of trading director.
