Profitero, the eCommerce analytics company that monitors what shoppers see and buy online, today announced that Coop Netherlands has become the latest European supermarket to select Profitero to deliver online competitor pricing intelligence.
Coop Netherlands turned to Profitero after its previous data supplier experienced issues in reliably collecting competitor pricing intelligence. To ensure it was keeping abreast of prices in an increasingly competitive grocery market, Coop Netherlands needed a solution that was able to guarantee daily delivery of insights into the prices of their most important competitors, particularly around fresh produce.
“We spoke to various suppliers who were offering online price collection and product matching. However what really set Profitero apart in the industry was their ability to deliver complete product assortment matching across thousands of SKUs, reliably and quickly, coupled with a flexible and user-friendly interface. We now receive an uninterrupted delivery of pricing data, ensuring we stay responsive and alert to competitor prices and promotions”, said Bert Nijland, Commercial Operations Manager at Coop Netherlands.
“We're delighted to partner with Coop Netherlands in providing them with essential and uninterrupted online competitor pricing data every day. The Netherlands has a highly competitive, yet extremely lucrative, supermarket industry with annual turnover accounting for over €35 billion. Coop is taking the correct steps to ensure its price competitiveness both online as well as offline”, commented Pieter Lemstra, EMEA Director of Sales at Profitero.
According to grocery analyst IGD, the Netherlands is one of the world’s top 10 online grocery markets for growth. IGD predicts that online grocery sales in the Netherlands will increase 4-fold in the next five years, from €0.5 billion in 2015 to €2 billion by 2020.
Coop Netherlands is a supermarket chain founded in 1891 in Zaandam, Netherlands and now comprises 250 stores. Coop Supermarkten takes part in the Dutch wholesale purchasing cooperative Superunie. In 2014, it saw total sales rise by 3.3 percent to $1.007 billion.
