Convenience store operator Spar UK has installed Amazon collection lockers in a number of its retail outlets. The service allows Internet shoppers to collect Amazon orders at retail stores.
Amazon Lockers are now located at nine of the grocery retailer’s UK stores. Spar will introduce additional lockers in the near future, according to media reports. “This is a highly innovative move from Spar UK, showing our commitment to launching the latest technologies that provide the best possible convenience to shoppers,” said Barry Willis, retail development controller at Spar UK. Amazon Lockers are also available at a selection of The Co-op stores and Martin McColl convenience stores in the UK.
Last winter, Staples partnered with the online retailing giant to install Amazon lockers in all Staples stores across the US. Prior to that, Amazon installed collection lockers in a selection of 7-Eleven stores. With retailers getting very creative with new ways to entice shoppers into stores, we can expect to see more businesses offer a parcel collection service to customers in 2013.
