Competitor Monitoring: Staples To Have Amazon Lockers In US Stores

Staples is the latest retailer to partner with retailing giant Amazon to install its lockers in all Staples stores in the US. 

According to Reuters, Staples is the latest retailer to sign up for Amazon lockers; shoppers can expect to see them in the retailer’s US outlets soon. The 7-Eleven retail chain is another high-profile operator offering the service at its outlets.

Amazon Lockers allow online shoppers to collect packages from designated locations that can be found when selecting a shipping address during the checkout process. Packages weighing less than ten pounds can be collected from various store locations using this service.

The collection service is perfect for those who do not want to have to wait indoors for deliveries or do not like having their orders left on the doorstep.

By partnering with Amazon in this way, retailers can benefit from a rise in footfall. However, it is possible that shoppers would use the trip to carry out competitor price monitoring on products and then use the price intelligence to find a cheaper deal on the Internet. (Nov 8)
