Dublin-based competitor price monitoring firm Profitero was recently selected as one of four companies taking part in a new promotional video for the Enterprise Ireland campaign, Start In Ireland, to encourage global entrepreneurs to set up a business in Ireland.  The new video was launched at the Dublin Web Summit this week to 4,000 attendees, 200 speakers, 300 start-up companies, investors, start-up experts and industry gurus. Featuring Paddy Cosgrove – founder of Dublin Web Summit, Text Me A Drink, Fox Frame and Profitero, the video will be shown at Enterprise Ireland functions and trade missions around the world to encourage new businesses to Ireland. Click here to watch the video on the Enterprise Ireland website.

Ireland has become a centre for entrepreneurship in Europe. The World Bank recently ranked Ireland as the top country in Europe for starting a company. Now, Enterprise Ireland, the state agency for promoting Irish firm abroad, is encouraging more businesses to follow the lead of Google, facebook, Linkedin, PayPal, Microsoft, Zynga in setting up operations in Ireland.

Strategically located with easy access to the important markets in Europe, US and the Middle East, Ireland is the only English-speaking country in the Euro zone. The country’s population is young, highly innovative, well educated and multilingual. Ireland is also considered a great place to live and work.

The Start In Ireland campaign was set up to promote Ireland as a excellent location where global enterpreneurs can set up their businesses. The campaign also flags Ireland as hosts of some of Europe’s top accelerator programs. Other strong points include Ireland having a high rate of seed and venture capital availability.

Competitor price monitoring firm Profitero provides pricing intelligence to retailers and manufacturers. In 2010, Profitero’s three co-founders, who are from Ukraine and Belarus, set up Profitero in Dublin to provide the timely pricing data to global businesses. Tesco, Ocado and Sonae are just some of the leading companies signed up to the Profitero service.

Profitero chief executive and co-founder Vol Pigrukh says that Ireland’s commercial environment is very favourable to new businesses – there are key benefits such as networking, mentoring and seed level funding. Entrepreneurs need very few things when setting up a business and Ireland is very favourable for doing this – the process of registering Profitero was completed in just three days in Ireland, he explains.

As well as being supported by Enterprise Ireland – the Irish business development agency, Profitero is backed by Seedcamp, Delta Partners and former Amazon director Simon Murdoch. Daniel King, who has extensive knowledge in developing and scaling high-growth companies, having served as chief commercial officer for mySupermarket.co.uk and previously as managing director of Experian Hitwise, is a non-executive director of the company.

Following Profitero being announced the overall winners of the IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year competition on California earlier in the year, US-based The Market named Profitero as one of ‘5 Start-Ups Big Tech Is Eyeing in 2012’.
